I offer long term therapy that is open ended-suitable for exploring your past and how it affects the present, giving you time and space to explore your difficulties and make positive changes in your life.
OR...
Solution focused brief therapy. This is short term therapy of 6-8 sessions that focuses on helping you find/build solutions- so it less about the past but about your difficulties in the present and helping you to find a better way forward.
It is therefore goal oriented, collaborative and future focused.

If you are not sure what is right for you just ask, you can message me, or we can have a chat by telephone.

I work with: relationship difficulties, fertility issues, miscarriage, bereavement, challenging emotions, life events and changes, low mood, self esteem, low confidence, depression. I also specialise in anxiety difficulties.
How I have helped clients:
My clients often notice changes across several areas of their lives—These changes usually build gradually through therapy rather than happening all at once.

1. Emotional changes
My clients often become better at understanding and managing their emotions.
-
Feeling less overwhelmed by anxiety, sadness, or anger.
-
Being able to name and process feelings more clearly.
-
Greater emotional stability and resilience.
For example, a client struggling with Anxiety Disorder had noticed fewer panic symptoms and improved coping strategies. They had noticeably improved sleep, been able to go out socialising, felt more relaxed at work and less affected by anxiety.

2. Improved self-awareness
My clients reports an improved understand of their thoughts, behaviour patterns, and triggers by,
-
Recognising unhelpful thinking habits.
-
Understanding why they react in certain ways.
-
They have gained insight into past experiences and how they affect the present.
-
This awareness is often the foundation for lasting change.
3. Changes in thinking patterns
-
Clients I have helped and supported have been able to challenge self-critical thoughts
-
Develop more balanced perspectives
-
Feel less “stuck” in cycles of worry or rumination.

4. Behavioural changes
As thoughts and emotions shift, behaviour often follows:
-
My clients have noticed healthier coping strategies (e.g., problem-solving instead of avoidance)
-
Have improved habits and routines.
-
Greater willingness to face difficult situations.
5. Better relationships
-
My clients frequently report improvements in how they relate to others: Clearer communication and stronger boundaries.
-
Increased empathy and understanding. This can positively affect friendships, family, and work relationships.
6. Increased confidence and self-esteem
-
Over time, many of my clients feel: More confident in decision-making
-
Less dependent on others’ approval
-
A stronger sense of self-worth.
7. Symptom relief
For those dealing with specific conditions like Depression or anxiety, my clients report a reduction in symptoms such as: Low mood, Loss of motivation, Sleep or appetite issues.

8. A greater sense of direction or meaning
My clients often leave counselling with: Clearer goals and values. A stronger sense of purpose.
Better decision-making skills.

I understand how it can be a very confusing time trying to understand how counselling might work for you and also a daunting prospect to place your trust in a complete stranger. Many of my clients are very nervous at first contact.
When looking for a counsellor it can be overwhelming when deciding how to choose the right counsellor for you. Click on the green button below for my guide on what you may want to consider when choosing a counsellor.

You may have had counselling before and have some idea of what to expect or maybe this is all very new. I have worked for many years with clients, some have had counselling before and some clients are so nervous they almost don't make the first session!

It doesn't matter who we are or what we do, sometimes we reach a point where we feel unable to cope. Feelings of despair, anxiety or hopelessness can overcome us and it can be difficult to see a way out.
